Learn English on your Mobile with SpeakingPal English App

Posted on 13:50 by Unknown
Speaking Pal English Tutor is a great app for people trying to learn English language. Now you can check how good your English is and get suggestions on how to improve it and all for free. Speaking Pal is really a useful learning app that students can install on their mobile devices. It works both on Android and iOS devices.

How does SpeakingEnglish Pal Tutor work ?

It is very simple to use. As soon as you instal the app you launch it and get engaged in conversation with its video character which is normally 2 minutes long. The app then will assess your language and give you  feedback on the sentences you were uttering . Once you are done you can then share the recordings with your friends and colleagues.

Speaking English Pal Tutor is the kind of app that teachers  need to recommend for their students and get them away from those stupid gaming apps that are doing nothing but wasting their time.

To download Speaking English for Android you need to head over to Android market and for iOS devices you head over to iTunes Apple store.

dotSUB The Easiest Way to Add Subtitles to Videos

Posted on 15:53 by Unknown
dotSUB is a great video hosting platform. It allows its users to add subtitles to videos in any language. This is a feature that is rarely offered for free in other platforms. Some of YouTube videos have already translated versions that you can access through clicking on the cc red icon that is often displayed under the timeline bar. However, not all the translations offered by YouTube are accurate that is why some users shun away from them.

The case is different in dotSUB for you can add your own subtitles to videos you upload by yourself and then share them with your friends and colleagues. Teachers and educators can use this service to share interesting content made primarily in other languages.
You can also browse the directory of videos already available in dotSUB. Most of the popular videos in this website are already translated into different languages. Just select the language you want and there you go.

Do We Teach to The Test ?

Posted on 05:13 by Unknown
Testing has always been at the centre of any educational policy. Governments spend a huge sums of money on researches to enhance and improve the quality of testing standards in education. The thing is it looks like our whole teaching is focused only on making students get high scores. While this is  the case for students, teachers and educators should not think the same. Teaching is rather instilling knowledge and transforming students into  productive citizens that will best fit in the outside world.

There is a growing roar about testing nowadays and the infographic suns it all for you.

" Today, just in time for the Iowa Caucuses, we’re launching google.com/elections, an election hub where citizens can study, watch, discuss, learn about, participate in and perhaps even make an impact on the digital campaign trail as it blazes forward to Tuesday, November 6, 2012.
The site enables voters, journalists and campaigns to quickly sort through election info by popularity, race or issues. People can also check out the Trends Dashboard to take the web’s real-time political pulse by comparing candidates’ YouTube video views, search traffic and Google News mentions. Posted on 10:36 by Unknown
Chrome Vis is a cool extension for Chrome browser users. It is  specifically good for the visually impaired people. Chrome Vis allows its users to highlight a certain portion of a text and magnify it and put it in an easy to read background. The hilighted text is then included in a pop up window over the original window.
